Victoria Beckham says WAGs are 'not a thing now' and insists her outfits were 'ironic'

Victoria Beckham has insisted her outlandish fashion choices as a WAG were "ironic" and said she thinks the era of the uber-glam footballers' wives is over.

The Spice Girls became one of the most high profile WAGs of the 2000s after dating and then marrying one of the sport's top stars - David Beckham.

It was back at the 2006 football World Cup that she spearheaded the iconic WAG-style which took the world by storm and she was part of a group of famous women that included Cheryl, who was married to Ashley Cole, and Coleen Rooney.

The WAGs were often seen out on the town as well as supporting their partners on the pitch, and they took a lot of the blame for England’s dismal failings in the 2006 tournament.
