Kamala Harris is not going to be moving into the Vice President’s residence as soon as anticipated. An aide confirmed CBS News on Thursday (January 21) that the Vice President will not move into the Naval Observatory, the home in northwest Washington, D.C.
where Vice Presidents typically live during their term, until it has undergone some repairs. The Naval Observatory was built in 1893 and was refurbished by Congress in 1974.
It has served as the home for Vice Presidents George H.W. Bush, Dan Quayle, Al Gore, Dick Cheney, President Joe Biden and Mike Pence.
Vice President Harris’ delayed move-in date will “allow for repairs to the home that are more easily conducted with the home unoccupied,” the aide continued.
