John Christopher Depp II (born June 9, 1963) is an American actor, singer, producer, and musician. He has been nominated for ten Golden Globe Awards, winning one for Best Actor for his performance of the title role in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2008), and has been nominated for three Academy Awards for Best Actor, among other accolades. He is regarded as one of the world's biggest film stars. Depp made his film debut in the 1984 film A Nightmare on Elm Street, before rising to prominence as a teen idol on the television series 21 Jump Street (1987–1990). He had a supporting role in Oliver Stone's 1986 war film Platoon and played the title character in the 1990 romantic fantasy Edward Scissorhands.

Vanessa Paradis says claims of domestic violence against Johnny Depp are “false facts” which have been used to damage his career.The 47-year-old, who was in a relationship with Mr Depp for 14 years, denounced allegations that the star had abused Amber Heard as “outrageous” and insisted there had been no violence in their time together.Ms Paradis said the Pirates of the Caribbean star, the father of her two children Lily-Rose and Jack, is a “kind, attentive, generous, and non-violent person and father”.She had been due to give evidence today to the High Court in Depp’s libel trial against The Sun’s publisher News Group Newspapers, over a 2018 article calling him a ‘wife beater’.But this morning Mr Depp’s lawyer David Sherborne revealed her.
