Furious students tore down metal fencing at the Owens Park and Unsworth Park halls of residence during a demonstration on November 5.
Within hours the fencing was taken down and the university apologised for the “distress” it caused.An inquiry into the incident has now identified a lack of engagement with students and poor project management as the major reasons for the failing.
University bosses accept that the fencing had a “significant negative impact” on students.They say staff were “motivated by the best intentions” to improve student.
