The Met Office has warned "disruptive winds" could cause chaos in southern England and Wales over the Bank Holiday weekend. It warns of high winds of up to 50mph from Monday afternoon and into Tuesday morning.

A yellow warning is in place from noon on Monday, and will remain in place until 9am on Tuesday. It covers coastal areas in Wales and the entire south coast of England.

Forecasters warn that travel delays are likely and damage to outdoor temporary structures is possible. Hopes of seeing off the long weekend with an al-fresco pint have been dashed by forecasts of torrential rain, which is expected to only worsen by next week.
