Britain is braced for a chilly weekend as temperatures plunge to -2C today ahead of another cold week. Freezing weather conditions are expected especially across northern parts of the UK, Met Office forecasters have said.

A "polar blast" could hit Scotland, bringing sub-zero temperatures into the region in the first real taste of winter. On Saturday, most of the UK will be covered in fog and temperatures will remain cold, the Met Office said.

As we head into the early hours of the morning, the minimum temperature is expected to be as low as -2C. And it won't get much warmer next week, with much of the country seeing highs as low as 4C or 5C at the start of December.
