UK weather forecast: Dense fog and mist covers country as temperatures set to plummet

The UK is set to experience a foggy and murky day on Sunday with occasional sunny spells before the weather gets colder and wetter next week.

Most parts of the UK will wake up to cloudy weather conditions, with frost expected across Scotland after a chilly night. A band of rain will move from southern parts of the country towards the North East and will later reach Scotland.

The rain is patchy in nature and will be on and off, but there could be some heavy outbursts throughout the afternoon, according to the Met Office.
