The UK has missed its crucial vaccine target again - as the latest numbers highlight fears of a 'postcode lottery'. Yesterday, England gave out 252,992 Covid-19 vaccines on Wednesday, official figures show, of which 251,902 were given to people receiving their first dose of the required two.
This is way off the Government's highly-trumped drive to immunise 15 million of the most vulnerable groups by mid-February, which would require them to vaccinate 400,000-a-day.
With each passing day where the 400,000 target is not hit, Boris Johnson's ultimate goal becomes ever more distant - and the pressure to get the jab to even more than 400,000 in 24 hours becomes greater.
