The UK might not have had a white Christmas, but the New Year could well makeup for it with snow expected across parts of Scotland and England.

According to WX Charts, early January is set to see several areas of the British Isles blanketed in snow. While WX Charts' maps and charts indicate where the snow will land next week, they're predicting that the snowy spectacle will kick off at the stroke of midnight on January 1.

Europe is already getting its fair share of the wintry weather, with much heavier snowfall anticipated for Christmas Eve.The Met Office has been keeping everyone updated via X, saying: "It's not going to be a white Christmas in the UK but across southeast Europe and Turkey, Storm Elena will bring strong winds, rough seas and some heavy rain.There'll also be heavy snow in places, especially in higher parts of Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina," reports the Daily Star.

On Wednesday, January 1, as we ring in the New Year, the east of Northern Ireland is set to see the first snowflakes fall.Then, at 6am, Scotland is forecasted for snow with Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, and other western regions seeing snow.
