Scotland facing five inch snow fall as maps show exact areas that could see white-out

Scotland is bracing for a total white-out in some parts, with new weather maps revealing snowfall across multiple regions. Forecasts predict up to 15 inches of snow settling overnight in some parts of the country into Thursday.

It comes amidst a chilly and wet start to 2025 for much of Scotland. Hundreds of schools were closed yesterday, while the cold snowy weather has also caused major disruption to motorways, airports and the rail network over the past 48 hours.

It will remain cold into the middle of the month with Arctic air continuing to flow southwards.The Met Office has warned that more snow will be falling across the nation this week, reports the Mirror.

The Met Office has extended its initial 24-hour weather warning for the Highlands, Grampian, and Orkney and Shetland. The warning has been extended until midnight tomorrow, Thursday.
