The UK's coronavirus hospital death toll has risen by eight, it has been announced this afternoon. The tragic figure comes amid fears over spiralling Covid-19 cases, with some experts believing the number of people with the infection is doubling every seven days.
All deaths were in England, with none reported in Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland. Those who died were aged between 61 and 91, and all had known underlying health conditions, NHS England said.
Three Covid-19 deaths were recorded in the North West and the Midlands, with one in London and one in the North East and Yorkshire.
