Two Manchester men arrested after police chase leaves trail of destruction

Two Manchester men were arrested after a 'number of vehicles' were damaged following a police chase through Rossendale. The police helicopter was involved in the pursuit, which began on the Grane Road and ended when the black Renault Megane was eventually stopped on Market Street, Shawforth, near Rochdale.

Two men from Manchester, aged 23 and 30, were arrested on suspicion of theft and driving offences, LancsLive reports. The chase began when police saw a black Renault Megane on Grane Road that was linked to an earlier offence in Darwen. READ MORE: Drug kingpin sent drug mule 'dressed as a dapper commuter' to avoid being caught The car failed to stop for a tactical operations patrol and resulted in a police pursuit leaving a 'number of vehicles' damaged, however nobody was injured.

Eyewitnesses told LancsLive the Megane was involved in a crash with a grey Ford and pictures showed the vehicle with serious damage to the driver side and one tyre completely crumpled.

The offending vehicle was eventually stopped on Market Street in Shawforth and two men from Manchester were arrested at the scene on suspicion of theft and driving offences The incident happened on Thursday afternoon (January 26) and both men remain in custody for questioning.
