A driver was arrested after fleeing at the scene and abandoning their vehicle which did not have insurance. A Ford car at a red light caught the attention of Greater Manchester Police officers when a pedestrian got into the back seat.
The passenger then got out of the vehicle seconds later before the car drove off at speed down some back streets. The driver abandoned the car,but they could not evade the officers, who detained the offender.
Officers reported the driver, who had no licence or insurance and the vehicle was seized. According to gov.uk, police can give you a fixed fine of £300 and six penalty points if you are caught driving without insurance.
If the case goes to court, this can be increased to an unlimited fine and/or be disqualified from driving. Police also have power to seize or, in some cases, destroy the vehicle if the person is not insured. For more stories from where you live, visit InYourArea.
