Tributes have poured in for a 'kind-hearted' man well-known in the Gorton and Denton community after he passed away last month.
Michael Evans, 71, who was a retired carpenter, passed away in early October after a three-year battle with cancer. Michael was well-loved by many people in Gorton and Denton with notable community work such as neighbourhood watching and bi-weekly litter picks - earning him an individual award. She spoke to the MEN about the toll his diagnosis took on them. “He’s at peace now. He had lung cancer and battled with it for such a long time.
The chemotherapy was terrible for him, it gave us longer with him but he was so tired. “I wish he saw the people who came to pay their respects, it wasn’t even about the numbers but more who came.
