Brits with holidays booked to Corfu have been reassured that the majority of resorts will be operating as usual. ABTA, the trade association for UK travel agents and tour operators, has issued a statement on the Greek wildfires.
Thousands of people have been evacuated from the Greek islands of Rhodes and Corfu, and several airlines have organised repatriation flights back to the UK.
While both islands have been impacted by the blazes, larger parts of Corfu remain unaffected. ABTA has reassured travellers heading to Corfu in the coming weeks that many hotels and resorts as operating as normal.
An ABTA spokesperson said: “The situation in Corfu is quite different to the situation in Rhodes. "The wildfire on the northeast of the island of Corfu is on a much smaller scale and is affecting significantly fewer holidaymakers.
