A suspect is understood to have been identified by police investigating the death of a three-year-old girl in a tram crash in a busy city centre yesterday morning.
The tragic incident occurred at around 10am on Saturday. A Mercedes-Benz van collided with a Metrolink tram travelling through Manchester.The Mirror reports the emergency services raced to Mosley Street, with the little girl being rushed to the hospital.
But she sadly died of her injuries. It is understood the victim was hit by the van moments after it crashed into the tram and mounted the pavement.An investigation was launched and on Saturday afternoon.
Greater Manchester Police launched an urgent manhunt for the van driver, who allegedly fled the scene, and police shared an update on the probe this evening, Manchester Evening News reported.Flowers and touching messages have since been left at the scene where the young girl died, as well as on social media.
