TransPennine Express has provided an update on why all trains have been stopped between Manchester and Leeds this morning (Sunday, September 17).
Services on the rails have been halted, meaning passengers face a nightmare heading east-west and west-east across the north.
Now, a spokesperson has confirmed why a safety inspection is taking place in Brighouse, West Yorkshire, which is the reason for the chaos.
A spokesperson for the company said: "Currently they are inspecting the track and the ground underneath the track because there's a void underneath due to ground works on the Calder Vale line.
