VAR had no choice but to rule out Jonny Evans' goal for Manchester United against Burnley due to Rasmus Hojlund's interference with James Trafford, according to ex-Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher.
Evans thought he had given United the lead midway through the first half when he expertly moved away from his marker to head home at Turf Moor.
However, VAR ruled out the goal as Hojlund was in an offside position as the Northern Irish centre-back headed the ball. Immediately after the decision on Saturday night United fans shared their fury after Manchester City were awarded a goal when Manuel Akanji distracted Bernd Leno as Nathan Ake headed home against Fulham.
Reflecting on the decision on Sky Sports' Ref Watch, Gallagher claimed this was evidence of the officials learning from previous mistakes.
