Mercedes if Lewis Hamilton did not sign a £40m-a-year contract with them has emerged. The Brit, who won a record-equalling seventh F1 Drivers’ Championship with the German manufacturer, has not put pen to paper on a three-year deal worth £120m with the team.
It has led to speculation that the 36-year-old is “arguing” with Mercedes over contract demands - and could even walk away from the sport altogether.
But Mercedes chief Wolff has previously stated that Hamilton’s departure from the team would not impact their ability to cross the line first in the F1 season.
