He will play a down-on-his-luck guy who finds himself in the position of being the only person who could save Earth.”Plans for the film emerged in 2020 when Nasa’s Jim Bridenstine said: “Nasa is excited to work with Tom aboard the Space Station!”The flick is set to be the first action motion picture to be filmed in outer space in partnership with Elon Musk's SpaceX.Musk replied to NASA on Twitter saying the project "should be a lot of fun!"Cruise played an astronaut in 2013 film Oblivion, when he safeguarded Earth's natural resources from alien invaders.He also narrated the 2002 Imax documentary Space Station 3D.
