While the Olympic pool spectator stands will be empty this weekend, swimming sensation Adam Peaty’s loudest supporter will be roaring him on from her armchair 6,000 miles away.
Adam’s gran Mavis Williams, 78, became a viral hit around the world after she saluted his amazing achievements on social media at the 2016 Rio Games.
She famously decked out her bungalow in Uttoxeter, Staffs, with Union flags to honour his achievements. The breaststroke champ won Team GB’s first gold medal, and became one of the stars of the event five years ago.
