But the Reds would not fork out the £53m release clause necessary to prise him away from RB Leipzig.For Chelsea, that has proved no problem and an agreement has been made over a transfer this summer.It comes after a series of calls and meetings between club chief Petr Cech and Lampard, as well as Marina Granovskaia pulling the strings behind the scenes.
And according to The Times, Werner is excited about the prospect of playing under the Blues boss. He also cannot wait to meet.
