Tighter rules introduced in UK town to stop its soaring coronavirus infection rate

People in Bolton are no longer allowed to mix with anyone outside of their households as coronavirus case numbers rise. This evening it was announced that the Greater Manchester town would be subjected to tighter restrictions.

Now those in Bolton must only use public transport for 'essential purposes', Manchester Evening News reported. The new measures are aimed at halting the soaring number of new infections in Bolton.

They have come into affect immediately. The borough currently has the highest infection rate in the country at 104.3 per 100,000 people.
