Tiger tests positive for coronavirus after 'catching it off zoo keeper'

A tiger at a New York Zoo has tested positive for deadly coronavirus, National Geographic reports. Editor of National Geographic, Natasha Daly, first reported the mammals’ shock coronavirus diagnosis in a Tweet on Sunday.

Ms Daly said the tiger had tested positive for Covid-19 at Bronx Zoo, a Zoo inside New York. She said: “A tiger at the Bronx Zoo has tested positive for Covid19.” CNN reports Nadia - the infected cat- three other tigers, and three African lions have developed a dry cough, but all are thought to be doing well.

All animals are believed to have experienced a decrease in appetite but otherwise are bright, alert and interactive with Bronx Zoo keepers.
