Joe Exotic
Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage (born March 5, 1963), better known by his stage name Joe Exotic, is an American former zoo operator, internet personality, musician, and convicted felon. The former owner and operator of the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park (a.k.a. G. W. Zoo) in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, Maldonado-Passage had claimed to be the most prolific breeder of tigers in the United States. He twice unsuccessfully ran for public office, first for President of the United States in 2016 as an independent, and then for Governor of Oklahoma in 2018 as a Libertarian.
Carole Baskin
Carole Baskin (born June 6, 1961) is an American animal rights activist and owner of Big Cat Rescue, a non-profit animal sanctuary based near Tampa, Florida. Baskin drew public attention when she was featured in the 2020 Netflix documentary series Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness about Oklahoma-based private zoo operator known as Joe Exotic. The Netflix series follows both Baskin and Joe Exotic, filming their ongoing and escalating feuds over exotic animals in private zoos. Following the series' release, Baskin has been targeted by Internet memes related to the disappearance of Don Lewis, her second husband.

Tiger King star Carole Baskin has hit out at the Netflix docuseries for inaccuracies. The animal activist has posted a lengthy rebuttal of the series' portrayal of her involvement in the disappearance of her former husband Don Lewis.

This unsolved mystery is the focus of one of the episodes in the series, but Tiger King primarily focuses on the years-long feud between Carole and Joe Exotic (real name Joseph Maldonado-Passage).

The episode, which focused on Don going missing in 1997 and being declared dead five years later, posited the theory that Carole murdered him and fed his remains to her big cats.
