Ticketmaster investigated over Oasis sale as watchdog calls for evidence from fans

An investigation has been launched into Ticketmaster over the sale of tickets to Noel and Liam Gallagher's blockbuster Oasis Live '25 gigs - after more than 10million fans tried to get tickets on Saturday.The Competition and Markets Authority said it would look at whether consumer protection law was breached and whether buyers were given clear, timely information.

Sarah Cardell, chief executive of the CMA, said: "It's important that fans are treated fairly when they buy tickets, which is why we've launched this investigation." She added: "It's clear that many people felt they had a bad experience and were surprised by the price of their tickets at check-out. "We want to hear from fans who went through the process and may have encountered issues so that we can investigate whether existing consumer protection law has been breached." Some fans were left less than impressed about the controversial 'dynamic pricing' strategy on the Ticketmaster site that saw some tickets soar past the £350 mark due to escalating demand.The CMA cautioned people not to assume that Ticketmaster had broken consumer protection law and said it would engage with the ticketing giant.
