Thunderstorms loom over Scotland as 28 days of rain could fall in three hours

A deluge of rain and thunderstorms is headed toward Scotland next week as conditions turn heavy and thundery.Scots have missed out the scorching heat felt down south, with another wave of turbulent weather to look forward to.

On next Thursday August 1, weather maps from WXCharts show a mass of rain engulfing the country.Stretching from Stornaway to Belfast, the worst of the weather is centred in the west coast.

The stormy mass turns from blue to red in the region where rain could reach 10mm an hour. An additional map from Ventusky also shows a stormy picture around the northwest of Scotland.

On the Isle of Skye, a torrent of rain is predicted to reach over 14mm an hour from 7pm to 10pm.The average rainfall for the UK in July is about 46mm - 1.48mm a day, reports the Mirror.
