Surge testing is being launched in Middlesbrough, Hampshire and more areas in Walsall after new cases of the highly-infectious South African variant of Covid-19 were detected.
Testing blitzes have been carried out in more than a dozen areas, involving door-to-door visits and sites that people can visit to get swabbed for the disease, in a bid to find any further cases.
Tests are being offered in two postcodes in Middlesbrough and Hampshire, while surge testing in Walsall, where 10,000 residents were offered tests earlier this month, is being expanded to include more areas.
People living within the targeted areas are being encouraged to take a Covid-19 test this week even if they aren't showing any symptoms of the virus, the Government
