Three men have been arrested on suspicion of assault and were being quizzed by detectives today following reports a shopkeeper was attacked inside a store on a busy main road.
Police said officers were called to an 'incident involving violent disorder' in Bolton on Monday evening. Images taken at the scene - on Halliwell Road in the town - showed two police cars parked up across the road in the aftermath of the incident. It's understood the shopkeeper said to be involved was injured, but their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Three men - all aged 41 - were held on suspicion of assault.
The force said all three remained in police custody today - Tuesday - for questioning. Police are now appealing for witnesses, or anyone with any information, to come forward.
