Manchester City returned to winning ways on Saturday with a hard-fought 2-1 victory at home to Brighton and Hove Albion. Pep Guardiola's side had two weeks to stew over their 1-0 defeat at Arsenal and came flying out of the blocks upon their return, Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland giving them a two-goal lead inside 19 minutes.
They continued to control the game but that advantage was halved by Ansu Fati midway through the second-half. City were forced to work hard for their three points, with Manuel Akanji seeing red after a second bookable offence in the 95th minute.
But those points, coupled with Arsenal's draw at Chelsea, saw the Blues return to the top of the Premier League.
