Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary have returned to host This Morning as new presenting duo Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard take a break for Easter.
And it seems that Alison and Dermot are proving rather popular with viewers. Body language expert Darren Stanton has insisted that while Cat and Ben are total professionals, they just cannot compete with Alison and Dermot’s natural chemistry and charm.
He argues that the pair have a ‘sibling chemistry’ that brings much more fun to the screen than other presenting duos. Speaking on behalf of Betfair Slingo, Darren said: "It’s just effortless with Alison and Dermot. They have that sibling dynamic and are very comfortable in each other’s presence. "They smile around each other and regularly go into each other’s personal space with ease. They’re more likely to go off script and bring fun to the screen, which is what This Morning is loved for." The search for new This Morning hosts began last year following the departures of Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, and saw the show hosted by a rotation of different duos before ITV bosses landed on Cat and Ben.
And while the pair have certainly taken to their new roles with ease, Darren says that their professionalism works against them and they lack the comfort and authenticity of Alison and Dermot. "There's a real air of professionalism with Cat and Ben but they haven't found their feet yet.
