Deidre Sanders, who's best know for featuring on This Morning, has been diagnosed with "high grade" breast cancer. The devastating news comes after the 77 year old agony aunt wasn't invited to her routine mammogram appointment "by error".
Deidre has revealed that she has "a teeny, tiny carcinoma" – a cluster of malignant cells in a duct – in her right breast, and that it has been labelled as "high grade".
She's soon set to undergo surgery to remove it. Writing for The Sun, the TV-favourite said she started to feel "achy" last summer and eventually called her GP for advice. "I tend to have tense shoulders but I realised the ache seemed to be spreading into my right breast," she wrote. "I must have let at least a month pass while I wondered, 'Is it anything to worry about?
Is it just muscular? I am 77, after all, is it just the aches and pains of getting older?'. "I finally got round to calling our GP practice a fortnight before I was due to go on holiday." Deidre spoke to an advanced nurse practitioner over the phone, who then saw her in person the same afternoon.
