The Dutchman was in attendance on Sunday as his new side brought their season to a fitting end with a 1-0 defeat at Crystal Palace.
However, since West Ham also lost in their last match of the campaign, United still managed to qualify for the Europa League but the scale of the task at hand for Ten Hag couldn't have been made clearer.
That work has already begun with the 52-year-old leaving Ajax early last week so he could immediately turn his focus to United and now his assistant coaches have been confirmed, with Mitchell van der Gaag and Steve McClaren joining the club as well.
