Following a record-breaking year for travel, many people are already eyeing their next getaway for 2025. In the first seven months of 2024, Europe saw international tourist arrivals climb by 11 per cent from the previous year, and figures were just four per cent shy of those in 2019 - indicating a rebound from the pandemic's impact.

However, it appears that tourists continue to favour traditional hotspots such as Spain, France, Italy, and Greece when considering holiday destinations within Europe. Travel expert and journalist Simon Calder shared with the Daily Express his top underrated European destinations for 2025, aiming to inspire travellers to venture beyond the well-trodden paths.

He remarked: "All the indications that we've seen, for instance the figures of people going through airports and the latest figures from travel companies show that we have an insatiable appetite for travel.
