Holidaymakers are being warned that roadworks on the M56 could mean delays travelling to Manchester Airport. A major resurfacing works project on the M56 got underway yesterday and is set to last until the end of August.

Both carriageways of a stretch of the motorway near the airport in south Manchester are being resurfaced. Road markings and bridge joints are also being replaced.

This will see a number of overnight closures over the next two months. These include a full closure of the eastbound carriageway between junction seven and junction five, en-route to the airport, for five nights from the evening of Monday, June 17, to the morning of Saturday, June 22.
