South Ayrshire areas could be transformed into wildflower meadows or long grass zones.The council has proposed planting the meadows in parts of Ayr and Prestwick to boost biodiversity.

The patches – which would be rarely cut – could attract more butterflies, insects birds and other creatures.Blue native cornflowers and red poppies would likely be among the blooms.

Park rangers may offer outdoor lessons for kids on bugs and plant identification at the sites in the future.
