One of Manchester Airport’s lounges has been named among the worst in the UK according to a study by consumer group Which?. The Manchester Terminal 1 Escape Lounge received a score of just one and a half stars based on secret inspections.
Which? Reviewers described the lounge as “dull and gloomy” with “stained seats” and insufficient toilet facilities for the number of the guests.
Although the lounge’s food selection was deemed “reasonable”, reviewers found that the choice of items was odd and “disjointed” with the menu featuring a random selection including a “bland potato salad.” Researchers visited 20 UK airport lounges between January and September 2023, assigning them a star rating between one and five.
The star ratings were based on the facilities on offer, such as toilets and showers, whether the lounges offered a runway view, whether there were designated quiet areas and spaces for families, as well as the food and drink selection available.
