The M62 is certainly a long stretch of road. At over 107 miles, it spans west to east across the north of the country. And while seven miles of the road is shared with M60 orbital motorway around the city, the stretch in Greater Manchester and out towards the West Yorkshire is full of history and heritage.
Here's some of the landmarks you can spot while travelling along the M62. Blink and you might miss it, but a stretch of the historic Rochdale Canal Towpath passes underneath the M62.
Just south of Castleton, narrowboats can be seen travelling through a tunnel directly under the motorway. On the way past Rochdale, over the horizon you'll see a row of high rise flats on the College Bank Estate dominating the skyline.
