The eerie abandoned Welsh village that has been reclaimed by nature

At one time, the Welsh village of Talysarn was home to workers and industrial buildings from the old Cambrian slate mines, mines which put roofs over the heads of countless thousands of people in the 19th century and which still last to this day.

But as the slate quarries grew, the decision was made to abandon the old village and move its 2000 residents to a new one, back in 1927.

But the old village remains, houses and all, now overgrown and consumed by the nature around it. The eerie sights of old dwellings and industrial buildings has even been called the ‘Welsh Angkor Wat’, reports WalesOnline, after the world famous Cambodian monastery complex visited by millions every year.
