7000 M&S employees - many of them women - who will lose their jobs in the beleaguered retailer’s latest round of redundancies which were announced this morning.
I’m sure many of us will feel pangs of nostalgia for a time when we could stroll into a Marks and Spencer’s store, perhaps with our grandma/ aunt/ mother/ daughter in tow and all be able to pick up a few bits we loved.
I certainly have fond memories of doing this in the late Nineties at the Camberley branch, where casually dropping a few tops into my mum’s basket became an art form I was rather proud to have mastered.But the way we shop has completely transformed and the possibilities are now endless which is why it’s hardly surprising that M&S clothing sales have slumped by almost.
