The Daily Show has figured out its plans for the week after having to pivot from its original plan. The Comedy Central show was set to have a week of shows from the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee but after the shooting at the Trump rally over the weekend, shifted its coverage.
Instead, Jon Stewart will host the show tonight (Tuesday) followed by the news team, which includes Ronny Chieng, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta and Desi Lydic, hosting on Wednesday.
The show will remain live on Thursday at 11:30pm ET/PT with coverage of the RNC. It’s not clear whether Stewart will be part of that but given that he only generally hosts the show one night a week, it’s unlikely.
The Daily Show was forced to go dark on Monday (July 15) after having much of its team already in Milwaukee but the assassination attempt on former President Trump forced it to change these plans. “Our apologies for the inconvenience but due to logistical issues and the evolving situation in Milwaukee, we need to reschedule our events on the ground in Wisconsin and will look to make those up in the coming weeks,” the show said on social media.
