Shaun Wallace issued an "ultimatum" to fellow Chaser Mark Labbett when he joined the popular ITV programme.Barrister Shaun and Mark were the show's original Chasers when it launched in 2009.
They were later joined by Anne Hegerty after a year, with Paul Sinha coming aboard in the fourth series, Jenny Ryan in season nine, and the latest addition, Darragh Ennis, in the 13th series.Both Shaun and Mark were no strangers to the quizzing world, boasting impressive credentials: Mark was an Only Connect winner in 2009 and had clinched £32,000 on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, while Shaun held a Mastermind title and had successful appearances on The Weakest Link and Fifteen to One to his name.
In a candid chat on The Hearing podcast, Shaun recounted: "When Mark came along I said to him, 'look, in order for this show to work, we've got to respect each other's opinions.
I'm not interested in if you're better than me as a quizzer, I'm not interested. We've got to work and respect each other' and that has been the key ingredient I suppose." He added: "From the people who get us a coffee - to behind-the-scenes - we're all one big family.
