Three new areas in the UK have been added to a list of locations on the brink of a local lockdown. The has been a significant rise in coronavirus cases in recent weeks, leading to fears of a second wave of the deadly virus.

Figures released by Public Health England reveal Leicester is currently the worst affected area in the UK with 141.3 lab-confirmed cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

However, three new areas - Sheffield, Blackburn and Bolton - have now joined the list of ten cities now on the lockdown danger list.

The local authority with the next highest rate after Leicester for the week ending June 28 was Bradford (45.8 cases per 100,000, down from 69.4 in the previous week).
