Sea of Thieves will see the addition of a new quest called Legend of the Veil, which brings in randomised story elements.First mentioned in Sea of Thieves’ roadmap from January, Legend of the Veil is a new three chapter long quest that will be available from April 21, and has now been detailed in both a blog post and a new video. The quest will be available for pirate legends, though in the deep dive where the quest is detailed, Rare staff did note that anyone can take part in the quest as long as a pirate legend is leading the voyage.In the new Sea of Thieves quest, players will be assisting the Pirate Lord, where you will have to gather special veil stones to further the plot.Legend of the Veil’s first two chapters are designed to be randomised, with some quests more puzzle oriented, and others featuring more combat.

Konami has confirmed that eFootball version 1.0 will be launching later this month, which brings a number of updates to the game.The free-to-play football gamewill receive its 1.0 update April 14, as announced through the game’s official Twitter account. Microsoft is apparently working on a group family pass for Xbox Game Pass, as the subscription service currently only offers individual memberships.As outlined in a Windows Central article from yesterday (March 31), trusted sources have said that a family plan – where one account can pay more to share Xbox Game Pass across a household’s accounts – is in the works and set to release sometime this year.The higher payment tier will apparently grant access to Xbox Game Pass for five different players, and be “far cheaper” than paying for each Xbox Game Pass account separately. Currently, Xbox Game Pass retails at £7.99 a month for console and PC, or £10.99 for Game Pass Ultimate, which includes game streaming and extra perks.This means that at present a regular subscription would cost five players £39.95, or Ultimate subscribers £54.95 a month.

Square Enix has corrected a statement about Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition, confirming the upcoming remaster will only have the refined soundtrack.The announcement blog post for the game, which was published on February 9, has been updated to reflect the inaccurate information. A statement at the top of the article reads:“This article originally incorrectly stated that users can switch between the original and remastered soundtracks.

Diablo 4, Blizzard has shared that fans can expect “five distinct regions and hundreds of dungeons” in the upcoming game, and detailed how the studio’s art team has designed each area.In 2022’s first Quarterly Update blog for Diablo 4, game director Joe Shely said that the entry would spotlight insight from the upcoming game’s artists to share with fans “everything that goes into building the world of Sanctuary”.Within the blog, art director Chris Ryder teased that Diablo 4 will include “five distinct regions and hundreds of dungeons,” and the environments have been created “through a darker and more grounded interpretation than earlier instalments.”On Diablo 4‘s open-world setting, lead exterior environment artist Matt McDaid shared that “the art and design teams have constructed a contiguous world where you can roam from coast to coast, or high up into the glacial ridges.”These areas range from the “bleak” Scosglen Coast, to the “isolated and secretive” Orbei Monastery. There’s also the “oppressive, frigid, and harsh” militaristic settlement of Kyovashad, over 150 dungeons across the world, and various underground biomes that are rife with danger.On the “Forgotten Places” across Diablo 4, associate lighting director Brian Fletcher shared that “we want you to have the impression that the dungeon goes on forever, and you’re only seeing a small part of a large underground labyrinth.”Fletcher added that “new dungeon features such as seamless floor transitions or traversals are exciting, but my favourite new feature is what we call tile-set transition scenes.

Xbox Live Games with Gold have been announced, and there will be two modern titles – along with two Xbox 360 games – on offer.First up is Another Sight and Outpost Kaloki X, which will both be available for Xbox Live members from April 1. Another Sight is going to be part of the service for the whole of the month, right up until April 30, and is a steampunk fantasy platform game.Outpost Kaloki X was originally available on Xbox 360 and PC back in September 2004, and is a city building title.

Call Of Duty: Warzone has taken some strength out of the overperforming Ghost perk, and has also tweaked several other perks in an effort to “provide players with a variety of tools to create even more interesting stories”.In an update to Warzone detailed on March 28 (via The Loadout), Raven Software has shared that it wants “counterplay and interplay between systems to be viable” so that players can “create even more interesting stories”.To that end, the studio added that “perks are going to make for a significant part of the push towards this objective,” and has outlined several fairly major perk changes that arrived in yesterday’s Warzone update.The biggest change targets Ghost, and makes it so that players will only receive the perk’s stealth effect if they are moving. Raven Software explained that “in Caldera it is obvious that [Ghost] has become even stronger”, and felt that more counter play opportunities were needed for the perk.The update also makes changes to the Scavenger, Restock and E.O.D.

Xbox has announced that it has paid indie developers billions in royalties from its ID@Xbox program.Independent Developers @ Xbox (ID@Xbox) is a scheme that Microsoft started in 2014 that allows indie studios to self-publish their games on the Xbox ecosystem of platforms.The announcement of shared royalties comes from Chris Charla, who was director of ID@Xbox until 2018 and is now a partner of content creation and programs at the company.“Since the program’s inception, independent developers have earned more than $2.5 billion [£1.89 billion] in royalties, and total revenue generated by ID@Xbox partners on Xbox almost doubled over the last three years. These are staggering numbers, and it speaks to the power of independent developers,” wrote Charla in a post on Xbox Wire.Charla adds that because of the scheme, indie developers have been able to give Microsoft direct feedback regarding its back-end publishing, which has allowed developers to more easily ship their games on both console and PC.“We’ve also paid developers and publishers across Xbox hundreds of millions of dollars in Game Pass license fees,” adds Charla, although no specific figure was given here.Despite apparently having over 3,000 indie games on Xbox, Charla notes that one area the team needs to improve on is discoverability and making it easier for players to find games they may end up really enjoying.Earlier in the month an ID@Xbox showcase was also live-streamed and showed off plenty of games coming to Game Pass in the near future.

Playground Games has revealed that a new Player versus Player (PvP) progression system is coming to Forza Horizon 5 on March 29, along with a plethora of other fixes and improvements that are all part of a bigger update.The official Forza support blog (thanks, Eurogamer) details the update, saying “Horizon Open has been updated with a new progression system including Badges which can be unlocked through gameplay”.Horizon Open is the PvP racing part of Forza Horizon 5, allowing players to jump in and out of any of the race types and play until they’ve had enough. The March 29 update has also “Added Custom Racing to Horizon Open, which will allow players to find races for their chosen race discipline and PI class”.As you’d expect, there’s also plenty of stability fixes and performance improvements.

Bungie has revealed that the recent wave of Destiny 2 video takedowns were “fraudulent”.Last week, a number of Destiny 2 videos were removed from YouTube following copyright claims. However, even Bungie’s own content was effected and the studio released a statement that said “these actions are not being taken at the request of Bungie or our partners.”In the latest This Week With Bungie blog, the studio has explained what triggered the takedowns, and what they’re doing to fix it“Over the past week, we have noticed an escalation in strikes against content creators in the Destiny 2 community, both big and small, and while some of the takedowns in the past have been legitimate violations of our established standards, many recent strikes were issued for content that does not violate those terms,” Bungie wrote.We’re aware of a series of copyright takedowns on YouTube and we're actively investigating.

Paradox Interactive has announced Stellaris: Overlord, the next expansion for the grand strategy game that will be launching soon.The publisher revealed Overlord with a brand new cinematic trailer teasing a new story and characters. The trailer was only one-minute long, but it looks like the expansion will focus on consolidating other empires.As the synopsis reads, “Overlord, a new full expansion for Stellaris, grants access to new features designed to unlock the next level of your empire.

Dark Souls exploit that forced Bandia Namco to pull PC game servers offline has been published.Back in January, a Remote Code Execution (RCE) was discovered in the Dark Souls games that made it so players could invade other players and control their PCs. This was such a big issue at the time, that Bandai Namco was forced to take the PvP servers offline for the PC versions while it resolved the problem.The PvP servers remain down to this day, but one person who discovered the exploit has shared the details on the RCE after the publisher said it would fix the issue (via VGC).The RCE details were shared on Github and disclosed proof of concept code and documentation.

Borderlands 3 spin-off Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will have cross-play between all platforms when the game launches later this month.Gearbox Entertainment Company CEO Randy Pitchford made the announcement on Twitter, which means complete cross-platform play will be available after Borderlands 3 on PlayStation consoles wasn’t cross-play last year.According to Pitchford’s tweet from yesterday (March 13), Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will launch “with full cross-play for all platforms at launch, including PlayStation.”“Incredible work from the engineers at Gearbox Software with thanks to our partners at 2K Games and first parties, including Sony, for working together on this,” added Pitchford.Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will ship on March 25 with full cross play for all platforms at launch, including PlayStation. Elden Ring.The iOS app was designed by an Elden Ring player who was keen to introduce a quest tracker to the hugely popular game. In an interview with VGC, Dachary Carey explained he “wanted to enjoy playing this game so badly” that he created the app.Ordinarily, someone who writes documentation for a living, Carey described the lack of a quest tracker in Elden Ring as a “big accessibility barrier”. In particular, it’s an issue for “more casual gamers” despite it being well known that the omission was a deliberate design choice by FromSoftware.The iOS app can fill that gap for those who miss a tracker.

Gearbox Software has announced the post-launch content plans for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, including a Fortnite crossover, season pass DLC , and more.The developer confirmed that the Borderlands spin-off game will be getting four pieces of DLC (downloadable content) all of which will be included in the season pass.Each DLC can be accessed through the “Mirrors of Mystery” content packs – which can also be bought separately – that will take players to a new world featuring five levels and a final boss fight at the end. The Butt Stallion Pack bonus will also include cosmetics that will arrive on launch day.In addition to the new levels and boss fights, Gearbox confirmed a new class will be arriving post-launch as well with its own unique skills and skill tree, although the finer details have yet to be revealed.Several versions of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands are now available to preorder, including the standard edition, the Next-Level edition (which includes the full game and the Dragon Lord Bonus Pack), and the Chaotic Great Edition.

Elden Ring building that might be used for downloadable content (DLC) in the future.Discovered by famed Soulsborne dataminer Lance McDonald, the footage of the building looks a lot like a massive colosseum.McDonald believes it’s for a forthcoming Player vs Player (PvP) focused DLC package. The YouTube video offers some insight of what to expect from the currently inaccessible area.The building is huge and has a ghostly figure waiting outside. Playground Games has released a new Forza Horizon 5 update which adds sign language support.Previously announced last year, the sign language support feature has been in development for a while but has finally arrived today for all platforms.When players boot up Forza Horizon 5, they should be able to find both American Sign Language (ASL) and British Sign Language (BSL) features in the settings.The sign language update will support 150 in-game cinematics that are shown throughout the game, making the driving game much more accessible for deaf and hard of hearing players.The newly released YouTube video shows how the feature has been implemented, with actors from the deaf and hard of hearing community signing in the corner of the screen during the cinematics, story segments, and challenges.In a new blog post detailing the update, Microsoft’s chief accessibility officer, Jenny Lay-Flurrie, discussed the new update and talked about her own deafness, saying that with the addition of signing in the game, she no longer needs to ask her family what she missed.“There are so many people with disabilities and people who are deaf. George R.R. Martin has celebrated the release and critical reception of Elden Ring with a new blog post.The A Song Of Ice And Fire author did the world building and background details for the game before handing these off to FromSoftware, with the developer constructing the story and rest of the game.Yesterday (February 28), Martin shared a post that said although he can “hardly pretend to be objective,” the positive reception to Elden Ring has been “music to the ears”.“Of course, almost all the credit should go to Hidetaka Miyazaki and his astonishing team of games designers who have been labouring on this game for half a decade or more, determined to create the best video game ever,” said Martin.“I am honoured to have met them and worked with them, and to have played a part, however small, in creating this fantastic world and making Elden Ring the landmark megahit that it is.”In NME’s review of Elden Ring we scored it five out of five stars, with Andy Brown calling it “a glowing spectacle of achievement” that “leaves nothing out”.The game is also looking to be the fastest selling Souls game of all time as it reaches number one in the UK boxed video game charts, with digital sales to be revealed later in the week.
