820 Gay Veterans Receive Honorable Discharge Upgrades
news release from the Defense Department.Even though the majority of service members were honorably discharged, nearly 2,000 received less than fully honorable discharges. After “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” was repealed by Congress, those less than honorably discharged under it were eligible to appeal for an upgrade with the Military Department Review Boards. About 85% received some form of relief, but others affected by the change were unaware they could request to have their discharge status upgraded.Last year, Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks initiated a proactive review of LGBTQ veterans who were dismissed under the policy but had not yet applied for an upgrade. As a result, veterans who were separated from the Armed Services under “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” will have their discharge papers — known as a DD-214 — changed to “honorable” without having to go through a formal process of applying for a discharge upgrade. Those members who receive upgrades will be eligible for benefits that they had previously been denied due to their discharge status, including health care benefits, college tuition assistance, VA loan programs, and even some employment opportunities. The Department of Defense is sending information to those having their status upgraded on how to obtain copies of their new certification.

Prince William leads D-Day ceremony as he steps in for cancer-stricken King Charles
lead the commemorative D-Day ceremony in honor of the 80th anniversary of the historic landings. The Prince of Wales, 41, touched down at Juno Beach in Normandy, France, Thursday morning where he met with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal.Normally, the King would be expected to attend the poignant events of the day, but as Charles is continuing his cancer treatment, his son — and the heir to the throne — is deputizing for him.Palace sources confirmed that Charles would be missing the international ceremony on the advice of doctors who are carefully monitoring his schedule.William is set to join forces with President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron at the Omaha Beach event later in the day.Sources said that Charles is “delighted” that his son was able to step in for him on such an important occasion.“While His Majesty’s doctors are very encouraged with the progress made so far, the King is continuing with his treatment program — and thus we have to prioritize and protect his continued recovery,” an insider told the Mirror.“On that basis, each event/ day has to be carefully calibrated — and given the King’s other commitments on the day, it was advised that the international event later in the afternoon may be a step too far at this stage.”“He is of course delighted that the Prince of Wales will be attending to represent the nation,” the source added.Earlier Thursday, William attended the Canadian commemorative ceremony at the Juno Beach Center at Courseulles-sur-Mer, France.Proudly wearing five medals strapped to his chest, the future King delivered a poignant speech, saying he was “honored” to be there to pay respects to “the bravery and sacrifice of the Canadian

Harry and Meghan allegedly snubbed their elderly Navy veteran neighbor
he claims. Frank McGinity, an 88-year-old US Navy vet, has been neighbors with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex ever since they moved to Montecito in 2020 during their controversial departure from the Royal family (often referred to as “Megxit”). According to McGinity, he tried to bring them a gift in order to welcome them and be “neighborly,” but they were not gracious about it. In his memoir, “Get Off Your Street,” McGinity alleged that he approached the couple’s home to give them some of his homemade films about local history. “I have a big house next to Harry and Meghan’s property and I live in the guest house while renting the main house out on Airbnb,” he said, adding that he lives  “a tiara’s toss or two” away from their 18,000-square-foot home, which they purchased for $14.65 million in 2020. “Harry and Meghan live on old McCormick property and I went up to their gate with the films on a CD, but they weren’t interested,” he claimed. He said the security guard wouldn’t let him past the gate. “The gate guy turned me away and wouldn’t take the film, just saying ‘They’re not interested.’ I was trying to be neighborly.” Harry and Meghan live in the nine-bedroom, 16-bathroom mansion with their 4 -year-old son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, and their 1-year old daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. An insider recently claimed that the couple might leave the neighborhood and move to Malibu.“Harry and Meghan are reviewing their living options with Malibu being a place of interest,” the insider said.
