Meet the beauty brand creating products which solve genuine problems - your ideas welcome
Charlotte Tilbury, the British make-up artist who launched her eponymous make-up line in 2013 and saw it valued at £1 billion earlier this year and Glossier, the New York brand that debuted a year later and had a $1.2 billion (£919 million) tag placed on it a year ago, the latest buzz is around Volition. The brainchild of Brandy Hoffman, who describes herself as “a plus sized lesbian who never saw myself represented in any beauty campaign”, and Patricia Vento, a venture capitalist, Volition’s unique proposition is that their ideas are crowdsourced. People submit concepts and wishlists, Hoffman and Vento float the best suggestions on their website to see how popular they are and then they are made.
