On the eve of what was to be her big comeback with a powerhouse performance at the 2012 Grammy Awards, Whitney Houston tragically died, leaving a legacy as one of the greatest vocalists ever to grace the stage. The iconic singer, famous for her moving ballads as well as her chart-busting pop tunes, was only 48 years old when she passed on February 11, 2012. Whoopi Goldberg was photographed out and about in New York City on Wednesday, February 2, in images that you can see here. She was seen arriving at a film center wearing a button down shirt and oversized jacket. The jacket had various phrases on the back, including “Innocence” and “We are infinite.” This was the first time that Whoopi was seen out in public since ABC announced on Feb. 1 that she would be suspended from her role as co-host of The View for two weeks.

Chelsie Kryst’s death was officially ruled a suicide on Feb. 1, the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner confirmed to People. Cheslie died at the age of 30 on Jan. 30, and her autopsy was completed two days later. The Medical Examiner also confirmed that Cheslie had “multiple blunt impact injuries” after her death, according to CNN. Police had previously confirmed that Cheslie was pronounced dead at the scene after falling from a “higher elevation” of a 60-story building in Manhattan.

Whoopi Goldberg, 66, offered a very sincere apology for saying that the Holocaust was “not about race” to start The View on Tuesday February 1. The co-host said that she “misspoke” during Monday’s episode while discussing a Tennessee schoolboard’s decision to ban Art Spiegelman’s Maus, a graphic novel about the Holocaust. The comic offered her support to the Jewish community and brought on Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt to discuss why comments like Whoopi’s are harmful.

Cheslie Kryst was beloved by the Miss USA community, and several women who had also previously competed in the pageant are mourning her after her death on Jan. 30. “Rest in peace angel,” Olivia Culpo wrote on her Instagram story. “What an unimaginable loss.” She also commented on Cheslie’s last Instagram photo: “You were always so kind and full of light. The ultimate role model with so much to offer the world. Rest in peace sweet Cheslie.”

Regina King is surrounded by so much love after the tragic passing of her 26-year-old son, Ian Alexander. Regina’s close friend, Vivica A. Fox, got to see the actress on Jan. 23, just two days after Ian died by suicide, and she opened up about it while hosting Face The Truth on Jan. 24. Vivica wiped tears away from her face as she updated viewers on how she raced to see her friend after hearing the news. “I was able to hug her,” Vivica revealed. “I got a text saying, ‘Regina wants to see you,’ and I made a U-turn and immediately head there. I had to go see my friend, my sister. More than anything else, I’m glad I got to hug her, glad I got to look in her eyes.”

Kate McKinnon’s spot-on Laura Ingraham impression was part of the Jan. 22 episode of Saturday Night Live, and Laura made sure to let Kate know that she caught wind of it. During the Jan. 24 episode of The Ingraham Angle on Fox News, Laura responded to Kate’s impression of her. Rather than just make a statement, though, Laura actually mocked Kate’s bit by recreating the comedian’s impression herself. The Fox News host imitated Kate’s tone and inflections, and threw some jabs at the Democrats.

Holly Madison rose to fame as a model for the famous Playboy magazine. The now-42-year-old blonde beauty became a reality star in 2003, when she was one of the three featured ladies on the series The Girls Next Door, which followed Holly, Bridget Marquardt, and Kendra Wilkinson in their lives at the Playboy Mansion along with the magazine’s founder Hugh Hefner. Holly was known as Hugh’s number one girlfriend during her time in the mansion, and the two dated from 2001 until 2008. Since the split, Holly has come forward with many accusations against Hugh, and she’s revealed that her relationship with the late founder, who died in 2017, wasn’t as sweet as it may have seemed on TV. Meat Loaf had an incredible impact, not only on his fans, but on fellow celebrities who knew and loved him, as well. The legendary entertainer died on Jan. 20, and social media was full of tributes following his passing. Several celebrities weighed in with their own messages of love and support. Cher was one of the first stars to comment on the news, writing on Twitter, “Had so much fun with Meat Loaf when we did “Dead Ringer.” Am very sorry for his family, friends and fans. Am I imagining it or are amazing people in the arts dying every other day?!”

Michael Lee Aday, who is better known by his stage name Meat Loaf, has died. “Our hearts are broken to announce the incomparable Meat Loaf passed away tonight surrounded by his wife Deborah, daughters Pearl and Amanda, and close friends,” a message on the 74-year-old’s Facebook page read. “His amazing career spanned six decades that saw him sell over 100 million albums worldwide and star in 65 movies, including Fight Club, Focus, Rocky Horror Picture Show and Wayne’s World.”

The Today Show’s full interview with Bob Saget’s widow, Kelly Rizzo, aired during the 7:00 hour of the morning show on Jan. 20. Kelly broke down in tears as she opened up about Bob’s legacy and their life together. After saying that he was the “best man” she knew, Kelly revealed how special her last conversation with her last husband was. “I was just very grateful that it was all, ‘I love you so much,'” she explained. “I think I said, ‘I love you dearly,’ and he said, ‘I love you endlessly,’ and I said, ‘I can’t wait to see you tomorrow.’ It was just all love.”

Rob Lowe, 57, had a hilarious revelation when he had Gwyneth Paltrow, 49, on his podcast Literally in July 2020. The actor discovered that his wife Sheryl Berkoff, 60, had given the the future goop founder tips on oral sex when she was a young adult. Rob got to make a few jokes about his wife’s sisterly lessons to the young actress while appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday January 18.

Alicia Witt sadly announced the deaths of both of her parents in a statement on Wednesday December 22. The 46-year-old actress shared that her mother Diane Witt (née Pietro) and father Robert Witt had been found dead in their Worcester, Massachusetts home on Monday December 20. Robert was 87, and Diane was 75. Besides the Orange is the New Black actress, the couple are also survived by a son Ian Witt. 

Chris Noth has responded to allegations of sexual assault from two different women, which were published in The Hollywood Reporter on Dec. 16. “The accusations made against me by individuals I met years, even decades ago, are categorically false,” Chris says in a statement to HollywoodLife. “These stories could’ve been from 30 years ago or 30 days ago — no always means no — that is a line I did not cross. The encounters were consensual. It’s difficult not to question the timing of these stories coming out. I don’t know for certain why they are surfacing now, but I do know this: I did not assault these women.”

Jim Bob Duggar, 56, lost in the race for the Republican nomination for a special election for a state senate seat in Arkansas on Wednesday December 15. The 19 Kids and Counting star’s defeat comes just six days after his son Josh, 33, was found guilty on child pornography charges in Fayetteville, Arkansas on December 9. Jim Bob lost to former city councilor Colby Fulfer.

Ariel Winter revealed many of the cruel things that online bullies said to her, as she rose to fame as a teenage star on the ABC comedy Modern Family. The 23-year-old actress was a guest on the Facebook Watch seriesRed Table Talk: Estefans on Thursday December 9, and spoke about how she was trolls attacked her as she was going through puberty in mean and hurtful comments on her Instagram.

Travis Scott says he’s been on an “emotional roller coaster” since tragedy struck his Astroworld Festival in Texas in early November. Ten people were killed during the concert, and dozens more were left injured. Travis faced extreme backlash for not stopping his concert amidst the tragedy playing out in the audience, but in his first interview since the event, he maintains that he had no idea how bad of a turn things had taken while he was onstage.

Alyssa Scott is continuing to grieve after losing her five-month-old son, Zen Cannon, to a brain tumor. On Dec. 8, three days after Zen’s sad death, Alyssa took to Instagram to share a new video tribute to the infant, who she shares with Nick Cannon. She posted a video montage of Zen, featuring footage of him at home and in the hospital. In one clip, Alyssa’s daughter (from a previous relationship) reads to her baby brother. Another shot shows Alyssa cradling the little one on the beach, as well as in the bathtub.

Nearly a month after LeBron James mocked him for crying during his trial, Kyle Ritttenhouse revealed that he’s no longer a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers superstar in a Monday December 6 interview. The Kenosha shooter, who was found not guilty on all counts during his November trial, was a guest on Elijah Schaffer‘s “You Are Here” show on BlazeTV, where he spoke about his reactions to the amount of attention he received during the trial.

Nick Cannon and Alyssa Scott’s five-month-old son, Zen Cannon, has died. The infant had been diagnosed with a brain tumor earlier this year, and things took a horrible turn around Thanksgiving, Nick revealed during the Dec. 7 episode of The Nick Cannon Show. Nick sobbed as he shared the news with his listeners, revealing that the brain tumor started to grow quickly at the end of November. Zen died on Dec. 5, and Nick was able to be with him on his final day.

Ethan Crumbley’s parents James and Jennifer Crumbley were caught hiding in a commercial building in Detroit, MI in the early hours of Dec. 4, after they were changed with manslaughter for the deaths of four of Ethan’s classmates, who were killed in Detroit’s Oxford High School shooting on November 30, ABC News reports. Hours after they were captured, they entered not guilty pleas to each of the four counts they’re being charged with over a hearing held on Zoom, and a judge was reportedly weighing arguments on whether or not they should be released on bond.
