Nine Inch Nails have teamed up with Dr. Martens on the collaboration of ‘The Downward Spiral’ 30th Anniversary boot collection.The collab was first teased earlier this month and officially announced today (July 15). Deftones are the most popular metal band to listen to during sex, according to a new study.The study was carried out by ZipHealth, which surveyed over 1,000 Americans to find out what listening habits they may have in the bedroom. Overall, it was found that 47 per cent of respondents said that they regularly listen to music during sex, and metal band Deftones were found to be one of the most popular choices.In addition to asking people as part of a survey, ZipHealth also analysed playlists across Spotify which contained the words “sex”, having sex”, “making love”, “freaky”, “BDSM” and “unprotected sex” in the title.While the findings showed that it was largely hip-hop and rap that dominated the most popular choices, the Chino Moreno-led band were placed in the Number Three spot overall, just behind The Weeknd, who topped the list, and Kanye West, who came in at second place.In fact, Deftones were the only band from a hard rock or metal category to be featured in the Top 10 overall acts.

The Cure drummer Lol Tolhurst has spoken to NME about exploring the origins of goth for his new book, how his former band were part of the genre all along, and how the likes of David Bowie, Joy Division and Nine Inch Nails shaped the scene.In his far-reaching new book, Goth: A History, Tolhurst explores the music, literature and art that shaped the genre, as well as the band he co-founded with Robert Smith in 1977. “Despite our passionate insistence that The Cure was not a goth group,” Tolhurst writes in the book, “The Cure was very much a goth group.”Speaking to NME from his home in LA, the musician laughed off The Cure’s insistence not to be termed a goth band.

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross will provide the original score for the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, as revealed by skateboarding legend Tony Hawk.The collaborative duo – who also perform together as Nine Inch Nails – recently scored the Pixar movie Soul, making the upcoming Turtles project their second children’s film for the 2020s.
