Mogwai have announced details of a massive outdoor gig in London alongside Lankum. Lankum have said they have signed a letter asking Latitude to drop Barclays as a sponsor amid the current boycott of the bank over its ties to companies who are supplying weapons and military technology to Israel.Numerous acts have already pulled out of the Henham Park festival over its sponsorship by Barclays, including CMAT, Pillow Queens, Mui Zyu and Georgia Ruth. Lankum‘s Daragh Lynch has spoken to NME about the continued success of their breakthrough album ‘False Lankum’, and Ireland’s huge cultural footprint in 2024.Guitarist Lynch was speaking to NME after this was announced that ‘False Lankum’ had been nominated for Best Album at this year’s Ivor Novello Awards this week (April 13) – up against records by Sampha, Yussef Dayes, RAYE, and CMAT.Speaking about the prestige of the Ivors, Lynch said: “It’s more about in-house respect for people who do what you do, rather than any kind of public or audience buzz.”“The last year has been absolutely mad,” he continued, looking back on 12 months also saw ‘False Lankum’ nominated for the 2023 Mercury Prize. “It’s been very unexpected.

CMAT has hit out at the Irish broadcaster RTÉ, after they cut Lankum’s acceptance speech at the Choice Music Prize, in which the band spoke passionately about Palestine.The band were picking up this year’s edition of the award, which is handed out to the best album by an Irish artist. Latitude Festival has announced a swathe of new names for its 2024 line-up, including The Darkness, Future Islands, Lankum and The Vaccines.The festival will return on the weekend of July 25-28 in Henham Park, Suffolk, and last month revealed its 2024 headliners as Duran Duran, Kasabian, Keane and London Grammar.Also on today’s line-up announcement are Jockstrap, CMAT, Waxahatchee, Baby Queen and Marika Hackman.The festival’s comedy line-up for 2024 has also been revealed, with headliners Jo Brand, Judi Love and Joanne McNally joining the previously announced Sara Pascoe.See the full Latitude 2024 line-up so far.
