Jade Bird has shared her first new music of 2020 – listen to ‘Headstart’ below.The new song is the singer’s first new material since the release of her debut album last year.Speaking about the new track, Bird said: “‘Headstart’ came out of a trip I made to upstate New York at the beginning of the year.“It’s quite a light-hearted song, about liking someone who just can’t see the signs, and releasing it feels like a way to give a bit of joy to the end of the year.

Giant Drag‘s Annie Hardy has spoken to NME about completing work on the band’s first new album in seven years, with the help of former Klaxon Jamie Reynolds down at The Libertines‘ Albion Rooms hotel and studio.The new album will be the cult indie grunge band’s first since their second full-length ‘Waking Up Is Hard To Do’ back in 2013, and marks Reynolds’ first time stepping into the role of producer. Speaking to NME, singer Annie Hardy revealed that they recorded 13 tracks for an album, and plenty more material for B-sides.” I have enough material to do a second album, hot and dirty style,” Hardy told NME.

Phoebe Bridgers has spoken of the difficulty of not touring during the coronavirus pandemic, calling it “a true ego death”.The singer released her new album ‘Punisher’ back in June, and has only played a handful of livestreamed gigs since due to ongoing concerns over the pandemic.Speaking on Rolling Stone Music Now podcast, Bridgers said she has struggled with not being able to tour the album.“A true ego death is putting out an album and not being on tour,” she said. “I didn’t realise how much I relied on people screaming at me every night.

Jarvis Cocker‘s new project JARV IS… have announced a cinematic tour for their new film, ‘Beyond The Pale… Live From The Centre Of The Earth’.The announcement comes in response to the group not being able to tour their debut album, ‘Beyond The Pale’, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.The film, which represents the only complete live performance of JARV IS…, will be screened in a number of cinemas across the UK in November and December.

Jason Derulo has been added to the line-up for next year’s Rock In Rio Lisbon event.The festival, which was due to take place over two consecutive weekends over June 20-21 and 27-28 this year, was postponed until 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.Many of the initially confirmed acts have been carried over to 2021, including Post Malone, Liam Gallagher Foo Fighters, The National and Black Eyed Peas.Next year’s event will now be held on the weekends of June 19-20 and June 26-27 with Derulo performing on the same day as Post Malone on June 27.He joins previously announced acts Duran Duran, A-ha and Bush for the bash.
